Lace Up for Wildlife: Join Us at the 6th Annual G.O.A.T. 5K!

At the Hampton Wildlife Fund, we believe that protecting South Carolina’s natural beauty goes hand-in-hand with getting out and enjoying it. This spring, we are thrilled to invite you to one of the most unique events in the Lowcountry: The 6th Annual G.O.A.T. 5K trail race.

Whether you’re a competitive runner or just looking for a scenic walk with a "wild" twist, this race offers something for everyone—and every registration directly supports our mission to safeguard the Palmetto State’s wildlife and natural resources.

Why This Race is the "G.O.A.T." (Greatest Of All Time)

This isn't your average 5K. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Kiawah River on Johns Island, the course winds through 2,000 acres of pristine Lowcountry trails. But the real stars of the show? The residents of The Goatery.

  • Goat Greetings: The race starts and finishes at the Goatery, where you’ll be cheered on by some of the most adorable baby goats in South Carolina. (Yes, there is a goat selfie station!)
  • Eco-Friendly Finish: In keeping with our conservation values, this race is 100% eco-friendly. Instead of a metal medal, every finisher receives a farm-fresh plant to take home and grow.
  • Post-Race Party: Celebrate your finish with farm-fresh coffee, biscuits, and a local Farmers Market featuring seasonal produce and specialty goods.

Racing for a Reason

We are incredibly honored that the Hampton Wildlife Fund has been named the official beneficiary of the 2026 G.O.A.T. 5K.

For over 40 years, the Hampton Wildlife Fund has partnered with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) to fund critical programs that don't receive state tax dollars. Your participation helps us support:

  • Youth Education: Programs like Camp Wildwood and Archery in the Schools that inspire the next generation of conservationists.
  • Wildlife Research: Funding for habitat restoration and species protection across the state.
  • Scholarships: Supporting South Carolina students pursuing careers in forestry, biology, and wildlife management.
