If you’ve lived in South Carolina for any length of time, you know that our woods and waters are more than just scenery—they are our heritage. From the mist rising off Lake Murray to the salt marshes of the Lowcountry, the Palmetto State offers an outdoor experience unlike any other.

Next month, we have a chance to celebrate that heritage together. We are thrilled to invite you to the 2026 Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic, taking place March 27–29 at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds in Columbia.

Presented by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) and the Harry R.E. Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund, the "Classic" has grown into the state’s premier outdoor event. Whether you’re a seasoned angler, a weekend hiker, or a family looking for a fun day out, there is something for everyone.

Why You Can’t Miss This Year’s Event

This isn't just a trade show; it’s an immersive celebration of the outdoors. This year’s highlights include:

  • The Hawg Trough: Watch professional fishing demonstrations in a 5,000-gallon mobile aquarium.
  • SCDNR Fishing Pond: A perfect spot for the kids to catch their very first fish!
  • DockDogs®: The world-famous canine aquatic competition that’s always a crowd favorite.
  • Expert Seminars: Learn new techniques for hunting, fishing, and habitat management from the pros.
  • The Latest Gear: Browse hundreds of vendors featuring the newest boats, tackle, and outdoor equipment.

More Than Just a Fun Weekend

While the Classic is a blast for the whole family, it also serves a vital purpose. All proceeds from the event go directly to the Hampton Wildlife Fund.

For over 40 years, the Hampton Wildlife Fund has partnered with SCDNR to ensure South Carolina’s natural resources thrive for generations to come. When you buy a ticket to the Classic, you aren't just paying for admission—you are making an investment in:

  • Youth Education: Funding programs like Camp Wildwood, Archery in the Schools, and Fishing Rodeos.
  • Conservation Research: Supporting vital projects like shark tagging and habitat restoration.
  • Scholarships: Empowering the next generation of South Carolina biologists, technicians and wildlife officers through over $1.2 million in awarded scholarships to date.
